It is designed to let students to think critically and practice their decision making skills with very minimal risks involved. The simulation offered an insight on the benefits that batching could do for a business, particularly a eating place business like Benihana.Batching or letting clients in by groups or batches (Shim & Siegel, 1999) is greatly effective during the peak hours. This is so because restaurant space is maximized by having clients check at the bar and wait to be seated until there are enough to be seated on a free table. The Simpsons Essay Example for Free
The Simpsons EssayOn one day Matt Groeing was sitting and sketching step forward side James L Brooks office he invented the Simpsons. They were first shown as 30-second bumpers in the Tracy Ullman show. Bumpers atomic number 18 shown before the adverts. They were actually successful so drop Network took a very huge risk to produce a half hour episode of the Simpsons. The Simpsons was not test marketed to a group of take in viewers because there wasnt enough time. The first episode shown on 17th December 1989 Called The Simpsons roasting on an open fire. The animated show is made up during a 6 to 10 month production time at first a script is made. Then the tribe who do the voices ar save on to a tape. Then they make a storyboard with the use of the actors voices in Klasy-Csupo animation can where a group of artists are drawing, this can be up to 2,000 images. The script is then selected on to a computer with the voices. Then its sent to South Korea where it is made in to an animation. It comes back to he studio as a 25-minute clip, this is then cut down to 22 minutes and thats the showThe show is very popular as a result of its two primary(prenominal) auditory modalitys. The main audience is Adults, they enjoy watching the satire bits this is when The Simpsons are making fun at anything thats in the freshs, and they to a fault enjoy the clever scripting of the show, which include funny film references. The second audience is children they enjoy watching the force of the show like Itchy and Scratchy. They enjoy watching it as a cartoon because they like the slapstick for instance when Homer falls down a cliff. However the Simpsons causes a bit of controversial debate as there a lot of people arguing that The Simpsons are not a good example as an ideal family. The nation needs to be closer to The Waltons than The Simpsons President Bush. There is so much arguing going about The Simpsons ignoring simple rules like wearing a seatbelt and drinking so people are thinking if it should lower tabu or not. The Simpsons are nothing like a normal family. A good example of a normal family in The Simpsons show is The Flanders. They are cast and say grace when eating their food, on the other hand The Simpsons just eat their food like dogs. Another example is Wilma Flintstone who is a normal lady of the house however bank is quite different because instead taking care of three kids she has to take care of another Homer Analysis and interpretation- representation and audience consumption The Simpsons is made up as a cartoon evidently the animation makes it very easy to add slapstick humour, this is when we laugh at things that are not really meant to laughed at, for example a real human being but we would if it was a cartoon. This is also called Rubber-band reality, where you can stretch the reality of a prospect by using cartoons. Furthermore The Simpsons can also be called a situation comedy, this is when the comedy comes out of th e situation, a good example is when Homer drives the family in to wild and the comedy comes from the situation, which is the forest. The normal situations in an episode are usually the school and The Simpsons home. The Simpsons is funny in very different for example either the violence is funny or it could be the scripting. However the best ay for me is the slapstick humour and elastic band reality. A good example is when Homer fight baronets new dad and then things get a bit complicating. There are some very strange stereotypes in the Simpsons take Marge she is an extraordinary house wife she does the shopping and takes care of Maggie. Lisa is a clever girl whos a buff in school and gets A* all the time, shes quite close to Bart and her mum. Bart whos the typical underachiever boy is hopeless at school. He gets on well with Lisa sometimes, for example when Nelson is bullying Lisa Bart helps out her out. Homer is a drunk, fat, alcoholic potato couch. He is the main character in the Si mpsons and has to be the funniest one, as a result of his childish behaviour. There are also a few extra stereotypes such as Apu the Indian shopkeeper and Chief Wigam the typical fat, lazy, doughnut eating American policeman. When you first look at the Simpsons they whitethorn seem like a dysfunctional family however you have to look very deep inside the family to realise that thy do love to each one other. firstly Homer and Marges descent, if you first look at the pair you see them arguing all the time. A good example is when Homer forgets there anniversary and they dying up wanting a divorce. However in the end they always sort things out byword I love you. Homer and Bart are always arguing and trying to strangle each other at any time possible. Bart is being a bit disrespectful by calling his Homer There always falling out a good example is when Bart runs away from home and lives in a tree house. Nevertheless they do love each other. For example when Bart find out Homer is Sa nta Clause he says Homer I didnt know you love us that much and they do find out a lot about each other when they are threaded to each. Marge and Lisas connection is very close as they are always together. Marge is always helping Lisa a good example is when she is addicted to the corrie hotline and she helps her from calling it. There relationship is very loving. Marge and Maggie are always together, Maggie loves her mum as much as she can and so does she. When she has to choose between the Flaunders or her mum she picks her mum.Marge also loves Bart very much she is always taking care of him. However they are sometimes arguing. The relationship between Homer and Lisa is not very strong Homer sometimes forgets that shes even there, like when he forgets to by here a Christmas present. Homer always forgets about Maggie and doesnt even know her enough name. Bart and Lisa are always fighting with each other and doing jokes, therefore it doesnt look as if they like each other. However they do love each other as it is shown in some episodes, as I explained earlier. Bart and Maggie love each other as well. The Simpsons is always being compared to the Flaunders. This is because the comparison gives it a good effect, and it makes it more entertaining to see what Homer would do to give the same treatment as Ned would give to his family. A good example is when the Flaunders get a new caravan and Homer gets a second hand one and they end up stuck in the wild. I think that the main terra firma why the Simpsons have been going on all these thirteen years is because that it has two target audiences. People are coming home from and watching the Simpsons and saying that my lifes not that bad after all. This is called Philologically Human its when the Simpsons act and feel like humans and Matt Groeing put it a mental health service to the world. The Simpsons are good and bad role models they are bad because Homer hardly cares about his family and hes just a fat alcoholic potat o couch. Bart is also bad because hes an underachiever and proud of it. However sometimes they are good role models like Lisa she an A student. They all are happy together as a family at the end of each episode and they always say, I love you. OVERALL the Simpsons love each other and thats what counts.

Effects of Greenhouse Gases on the Environment
Effects of Greenhouse Gases on the EnvironmentWhat ar the three human bear upon sources of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. 75 linguistic process 704-705Krogh (2011), states that the three human affected sources of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere be from the burning of fossil fuels, deforestation, and the amount of cattle we raise. These three affects each put in too more than carbon dioxide into the atmosphere or doesnt produce enough. The burning of fossil fuels, such as coal, gives off a great deal of carbon dioxide gases into our atmosphere. Deforestation is the cutting sown of channelizes, which eliminates the carbon dioxide needed for photosynthesis among different plant life. It also has the effect of putting too much CO2 into the atmosphere because trees are know to take up CO2 and make oxygen for the atmosphere instead. Another greenhouse effect produced by human is in the amount of cattle and rice we need to grow. Since we take away to mass produce crops and cattle for the alarming number of human growth, this ultimately allows high amounts of gases into our atmosphere. You are hiking with a champion and reach the peak of a mountain after a long climb. On your climb upward, you had a clear trail with a little grass and small shrubs along the way. But looking mass the other side, you see lush vegetation and many broadleaf trees farther down the slope. Your friend wonders why there is such a big difference. What explanation derriere you offer your friend? 75 wordsI would let my friend know that he/she is seeing the effects of the rain shadow. Krogh (2011), says that mountain ranges force mail to rise, and drops its moisture on the windward side (pg.711). As a impression, when the air travels over to the other side of the mountain it no longer as any moisture to drop. This obviously leaves no more rain to fall to foster plant life and animal life, leaving it dry and inhabitable to much animal life.Compare and contrast ecological domin ants with keyst iodine species and give showcases. 200 words 671-672,G5,G8Krogh (2011), defines ecological dominants as a species that is abundant and obvious in a given community (pg.G5). He goes on to define keystone species as a species whose absence of a community would bring significant change in that community (Krogh, pg.G8). In an ecological dominant community it is usually incessantly seen as a community of plants and shrubs. In the keystone species, its community is usually always seen in animal life such as the sea maven. Although they are known to be of small numbers they produce a huge impact on our ecosystem when disturbed. For subject, in the keystone species once a predatory animal is take away from its habitat the others in the community face the dangers of other predators. This can result in the elimination of a species. While in the ecological dominants community, they are always so largely populated that they take over others for survival. Krogh (2011), give s an example of the Kansas prairie fields that are dominated by tallgrass for the ecological dominants, and the predatory sea star Pisaster ochraceus for the keystone species (pg.672). As stated above, they are different in the way they affect the ecosystem, but they are similar in the way that they are two a type of species.Give an example of why keystone species play a large role in community despite the fact that they whitethorn be present in relatively small numbers. 200 words 671-673Keystone species are relatively smaller in numbers but have a huge impact on the ecosystem when disturbed. Keystone species are known as predators that can control a single community and with give away them the other species inside the community may not be able to survive. This can be seen with the example that Krogh (2011) gives with the predatory sea star Pisaster ochraceus (pg.672). This is a good example because even though they live in moderately small quantities, once you remove it from its community the results can be catastrophic for the rest of the community. Removing the predatory sea star would leave the rest of them vulnerable to other predators, and may end in the extinction of them if the predatory sea star does not return. In other words, once the sea star has been removed it starts a trickling down effect on other sea animals among its biomass. More and more species that live in or near the sea star ecosystem will start to disappear due to lack of food or the overpowering of other predators in the sea. Another result of the of removal of a keystone species is now newer species are able to come in and take over the habitat they once lived in so they can flourish and live in that ecosystem.Explain the four types of biological community interaction and give examples. 500 wordsThe four types of biological community interactions are competition, predation and parasitism, mutualism, and commensalism. The competition interaction is a competition between two or more species (Krogh, pg. 674). This is a competition among species for resources in read to survive. These species do not compete by fighting, but rather by gathering enough resources to outlive the next species. This competition can be between species of the same or a different community. This competition can result in the extinction of a species because of lack of resources to survive. Krogh (2011), give the example of competition between the P. aurelia and the P. caudatum (Krogh, pg.674). In this experiment, both organisms were grown in the same test tube. It was documented that instead of either one trying to attack the other, the P. aurelia just outgrew the P. caudatum. This ultimately resulted in the P. caudatum to die out due to lack of room and resources (Krogh, pg.674). This type of biological interaction can be seen in many different types of species. It can also be seen in resource partitioning. This is where two species dont attack one another for resources, but they take u p two different sides of the resource in order to survive, thus leaving one another alone for the time being. The second biological community interaction can be viewed between predation and parasitism. This is where one species benefits while a different species is affected. Predators will obtain their resources through eating their prey, while parasites will live on other species and obtain its food through them. A big difference between the two is that they predator doesnt live on its prey like the parasite. Also, the predator kills for its food, and the parasite wont always kill its host for resources. Krogh (2011), give an example of the predator interaction with the common house cat and the rat (Krogh, pg.676-677). The cat preys on the rat as a vital food resource. He also gives the example of the strangler fig tree for the parasitism interaction. This tree will wrap its roots around a host tree to obtain nutrients and eventually killing it (pg.676). The third biological intera ction is mutualism. Mutualism is an interaction between different species that does not end up in the harming of either one of them. Instead is a helpful interaction among the two different species. Krogh (2011), shows the interactions between the rhinoceros and the oxpecker birds as a good example of this mutualism interaction (pg.680). In this example, the oxpecker bird will sit on the back of the rhino eating any foreign objects off of it, and the rhino in return will provide a safe place for the bird to reside. The fourth type of interaction within communities can be seen through commensalism. This interaction is also among different species, but it results in one of the species flourishing while the other is left unaffected. An example of this type of interaction is explained with a bird and a tree (Krogh, 2011). Birds tend to make nest within the branches of a tree to have a place to live and flourish while leaving the tree unaffected of its existence.

How Do You See the World?
How Do You See the World?I was taught early on in life that divinity fudge is the center of on the whole creation and we should worry Him for one day we must account for our life. I knew the bible existed, but I never read it. I was told stories out of the bible, but I did not understand the meaning of them. My stirs were born, raised and educated through high school in the Catholic faith and neither parent continued on to higher education. My dad joined the Army and was sent to fight in the Vietnam War. My mom became fraught(p) with me after one year of college. Although neither parent will discuss this era of their life with me, I believe that my parents faced some terrifying events which pul lead them out from their faith in God. I grew up in a arena of emotional turmoil that would not be conquered until I was in my twenties. To this day, neither parent is close to God however, I adopt experienced salvation through Christ. Moreover, my life is much better because of Him.As a survivor of unvarying psychogenic and emotional abuse by my father and of consistent bullying I was subjected to during my teenage years in junior high and high school, currently, I have a tendency to be autonomous and not ask for help in fear that I will be rejected, ridiculed or pushed to the edge. Furthermore, the abuse I endured have long lasting effects such as lack of confidence, shy, withdrawn, confused, unfocused, and low self-esteem. After high school, I began drinking alcohol at parties and experimented with marijuana, not because I enjoyed the feeling, but because I fit in with a group of people I called my friends for the first time in my life. I met and dated my dandy for three years, god in sin and became enceinte. I do not think I have ever admitted this before, but subconsciously, I believe I became pregnant on purpose. I grew up with the viewpoint that I would not bring a child into this cold, cruel, meaningless world with so much violence and disease. As it turned out, my daughter was a gift a chance for me to make a life for me and her. Although I did not marry my daughters father, mostly out of fear that I would end up divorced like my parents, we remain very good friends. While he was studying for his Masters program in college, he developed a personal blood with Jesus and introduced me to an entirely different world that I grew up knowing. I too, developed a personal relationship with Jesus but it would still be a few more years that I would completely understand what that meant and it would cost me dearly.I continued to live a very sinful life and found myself dating men that treated me just like my father and bullies. I would do any subject to win their approval. I just wanted to feel loved. In the year 2000, I met this man who I fell deeply in love with. He was the furthest thing from a Godly man as you could get. In 2002, he would end up stealing everything I owned and leave me to pick up all the pieces once he moved on. I los t my money, car, my house, my job, my friends, and nearly my daughter. I soon realized it was God letting me know that he was not pleased with my choices so he got my attention dramatically. This time, I turned my life over to God completely and asked him to drive and He has not let me down since.Volunteering had of all time been an escape for me. I volunteered with a youth group in high school so I searched for something meaningful I could do as an adult. The Jaycees, a current volunteer group I have been with since August, 2000 has been one of the single most fulfilling journeys I have ever been on. This international organization has opened my eyeball to an entire world of both wonderful and tragic ways. I have had the opportunity to be friends with people I would not have otherwise met. I have helped third world countries by providing food, water, shoes, books, toys and malaria nets. I have helped people in my own community by providing financial assistance, food needs, rides to the hospital for medical examination needs, etc. All the while helping others, I was actually changing my own worldview. I lost my It is all about me filter and saw the world had bigger problems than mine. I loved Jesus more than anything and questioned the reasons why God allowed such travesty to occur in His world. To do more, I joined a small group through my church and became committed friends with them. In June 2009, I affirmed my relation with Christ for a second time by be baptized, two years later, my daughter affirmed her relation with Christ.Today, I see the world with a completely different set of eyes. Instead of the why me questions with no answers, I pray what can I do to help someone today prayer. I have discovered that I am somebody with value, choices, talent, and that I have an enormous amount of love to give and there is an entire world out there that would graciously accept it. My latest prompt from God was to return to school and discover new talents, make new friends and become educated the proper way. The Lord wants me to explore His world through His eyes which is what led me to the Christian College I am at today. Lord is revealing his plan for me like if it was an onion only peeling one layer off at a time and as long as my heart and mind are wide open, the future holds amazing things for me.

It has got one methyl group which gives fig out to a singlet at ? 2.3498 as there argon no neighbours and the n+1 rule is followed. It has integral of 3 as leash protons are giving rise to the chemical shift at ? 2.3498. The four singlets between ? 7.1292 ? 8.1123 correspond to benzene ring protons. In aspirin there is a very(prenominal) broad singlet at ? 11.0082 due to the carbonyl adjacent to hydroxyl proton which shifts it towards the left hand side.Caffeine has got tierce methyl groups which give rise to three singlets as all the three methyl groups are in different environments to each other. All the three peaks have integral of 3 which arises due to the three protons on each methyl groups. The first singlet at ? 3.4133 is due to the protons (a) next to nitrogen with single bond. The second singlet is seen at ? 3.5910 corresponding to protons(c) next to double bonded carbon and oxygen and the last methyl singlet (b) a t ? 4.004 is due to the protons next to two double bonded oxygens attached to two carbons. There is in any case a singlet seen at ? 7.5172 that arises due to a single proton CH between two nitrogens.Compare your results to the contents claimed by the manufacturer and discuss any differences observed. How does this rule compare with determinations by UV absorbance and HPLC. What are the NMR methods limitations?UV techniques are simple and rapid. It can be used for the quantitative determination of highly commingle compounds and metal ions. Metal ions can be coloured and determined by UV. HPLC is a separation techniques used for compounds on basis of their rate of elution and can break out complex mixtures. HPLC analysis is very quick with high resolution. The stationary column can be used repeatedly for number of times. In HPLC analysis, automated instrumentation and quantitation can be used. It also has low sensitivity and accuracy. NMR is an expensive technique. Compared to UV a nd HPLC the instrumentation is more costly. The sample to be analyzed has to be rationalize of any contaminants. It takes longer time as compared to the other techniques mentioned. In NMR the chemical shift corresponds to the structure of the molecule being analysed so for compounds with similar structures it is punishing to separate the signals. Also it is an insensitive technique.Referenceshttp//www.pg.gda.pl/chem/CEEAM/Dokumenty/Warsztaty/Levsen.pdfhttp//wiki.answers.com/Q/Advantages_and_disadvantages_of_HPLChttp//www.answers.com/topic/hplc-high-performance-liquid-chromatographyhttp//www-unix.oit.umass.edu/mcclemen/581Proteins.htmlhttp//wapedia.mobi/en/Ultraviolet-visible_spectroscopyhttp//books.google.co.uk/books?id=Dvoeg3erhRECpg=PA297lpg=PA297dq=limitations+of+nmr+spectroscopysource=blots=ea8zhh6QdCsig=v3mtaKE11Git3TMIX06mK3KD3yIhl=enei=BStBS5abEJj20wTkg6mSBQsa=Xoi=book_resultct=resultresnum=6ved=0CBoQ6AEwBTgKv=onepageq=limitations%20of%20nmr%20spectroscopyf=false

Our Church Choir :: Personal Narrative Essays
Our Church Choir   Last year our church choir was preparing for its twenty-seventh spring concert, and I was in charge. No, I was not president of the church choir, I was the musicians representative I had not an inkling what that meant, but, sure enough, my ignorance would not linger. I was to be in charge of organizing all things musical, from equipment to musicians.   The musicians seemed almost ready. The choir still had three songs to learn, but with rehearsals every night and impromptu performances in the dining halls, on the shuttle buses I felt generally confident. As a rule, when you are putting on a performance and feel generally confident integrity week before show time, begin panicking.   The first disaster struck close to home our drummers grandmother passed away.  Apart from the tremendous blow this tragedy dealt both him and the choir, we needed to find another drummer. Then, like an ominous slinky, the rest of my carefully laid plans fell one on top of the other.   Our directors to a faultk ill. The music was taking too long to teach. Our pianist, gone. Our strongest sopranos voice, history. And I broke a bass string. I could do nothing but laugh . . . and cry. I managed to do that quite a bit.   just just when Murphys Law seemed martially imposed, things got miraculous. The night before the concert, an old church choir drummer stopped by to learn all two hours of the music. The choir intentional the rest of the music that same evening and, when we finished, the room glowed with harmony. We were rough, but overall, the evening returned my general sense of confidence. (See above rule.)   When I arrived the next evening, a troubling portion greeted me a cart with none of the sound equipment I had ordered. We had no microphones. We had no speakers. I had already lost my wits by this point, and now I was inches from losing hope. A group assembled to see what could be salvaged from the situation and was mildly succes sful. But with all these distractions, the choir could not possibly be . . .   Brilliant  The choir was brilliant.  I collapse never been part of such a beautiful musical experience. But what is the point of this story?   This story explains how our church choir operates by grace of beau ideal and family.

A Review of the Beck Youth Inventories for Children and Adolescents Es
The Beck Youth Inventory Test was developed in 2001 by Judith Beck, Aaron Beck, bath Jolly, and Robert Steer. The purpose of this psychological visitationing tool is a brief self-report to measure the distress in children and adolescents (Flanagan & Henington, 2005). The Beck Youth Inventory acknowledges using five self-administered scales. The five tests include the Beck Depression Inventory, Beck Anxiety Inventory, Beck Anger Inventory, Beck Disruptive Inventory, and the Beck Self-Concept Inventory. These tests can be administered individually or in combination to the youth. The intended population for this test is ages 7-14 years (Flanagan & Henington, 2005). This test is used to assess symptoms of depression, anxiety, anger, disruptive behavior, and self esteem (Beck, 2001).The Beck Depression Inventory measures depression criteria as evidenced in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of cordial Disorders Fourth Edition (Flanagan & Henington, 2005). The Beck Anxiety In ventory assesses childhood fears related to health and school (Flanagan & Henington, 2005). The Beck Anger Inventory appraises the individuals opinion of mistreatment, negative thoughts, and physiological arousal (Flanagan & Henington, 2005). The Beck Disruptive Behavior Inventory measures behaviors and attitudes related to oppositional and defiant behavior (Flanagan & Henington, 2005). This is consistently seen in youth diagnosed with Oppositional Defiant Disorder and Conduct Disorder. Lastly, the Beck Self-Concept Inventory assesses feelings of self-worth and competence (Flanagan & Henington, 2005). The theory of the Beck Youth Inventory Test was derived from the adult Beck Scales (Beck, 2001). The authors of this testing instrument saw a need for this... ...ne only individually in order to uphold honest responses and not have any peer influences (Flanagan & Henington, 2005). Overall, the Beck Youth Inventory is a useful tool, but should be used in conjunction with an other(prenominal) assessment instruments. ReferencesBeck, J. (2001, November).
